November 2021 – Energy Update

Energy Update – November 2021

The Gift of Gratitude

The topic of gratitude is linked with November and Thanksgiving, and it’s also been a popular buzzword lately in spiritual practices. Many clients ask me what it is exactly, why it is important, and how do they do it? Here’s my explanation, in hopes of adding some clarity around it.

Gratitude is the act of being thankful, for showing appreciation for a benefit we have received. It completes the cycle of energy exchange – the giving to one person and the receiving from the other. It also confirms that something has manifested from the ethereal to the physical world. (A thoughtful gift is an example: A person thinks of another {the thought is ethereal}, then they buy a gift for that person {the gift is in the physical world}, so the thought has materialized, or manifested. When the gift is received and gratitude is expressed, the cycle is complete.) We can also create this cycle by showing gratitude to God and the Universe when we receive something of benefit to us.

Gratitude is important because it keeps our heart chakra open and active, sustains the flow of energy to other chakras, and helps us exercise our faith and appreciation. Without gratitude, our hearts can be closed and not open to love, we may distract ourselves from experiencing intimacy and forgiveness, we will waste valuable time, and we will resist the acceptance of our true nature.

Psychology Today cites recent gratitude studies indicating a link between showing gratitude and experiencing well-being in people with chronic pain and depression. It also says that those who receive a generous act may experience positive feelings toward humanity and in turn, are more likely to become a benefactor themselves. It cited that gratitude can be a gateway to other emotions, such as joy, confidence, motivation, and wonder. People who express gratitude are less likely to feel lonely, have more life satisfaction, empathy, and compassion.

I see the cycle of Gratitude as having 4 steps: Identify It (the benefit), Acknowledge the Source (the benefactor), Speak or Document It (saying thanks or journaling), and Pay It Forward (become a benefactor). Complete the Do the Work section below to apply this to your life.

Gratitude will shift our energy to a higher place and raise our vibration. Just by answering the question, “What is good in my life right now?” the process will begin. The vibration of gratitude is higher than the vibration of worry (shift into gratitude when you are stressed out or depressed, to raise your spirits and vibration). Next identify the source – this creates a stronger relationship with the benefactor and encourages the benefactor to continue giving, whether to you or someone else. This also increases our faith in others and acknowledges how we are supported in this world and beyond. Paying it forward strengthens relationships between people by mutually helping each other.

Need some ideas on how to express gratitude? Here are a  few ways: 1) Speak it and/or write it.  2) Light a candle / prayer  3) Help someone in need to pay it forward for when you were helped in the past  4) Find a special object that reminds you of something you are grateful for, such as a special greeting card, or photos of someone you love, and keep them close.  5) Even when you can’t understand why you are going through something, have faith you are learning from it. Focus on the things you learned when you experienced bad times in the past.  6) Send cards to strangers (See the blog excerpt below).  7) Appreciate your body through exercise.  8) Send a surprise to someone you love (I use Mailbox Power for this, it’s easy and I’m an affiliate).  9) Before going to sleep, identify 5 things daily for which you are grateful. 10) Pray for the people in your life, whether they are alive or deceased.

Important dates for November 2021:

November 4th – New Moon in Scorpio. It’s time to focus on what you are passionate about in life. Pay attention to how you feel about everything right now. Make a list of your passions and focus on them during this time (November 2nd – 6th).

November 19th – Lunar Eclipse on the Taurus Full Moon. This eclipse is on a Taurus-Scorpio axis, which means it’s time to make changes in our relationships, homes, habits, and there will be disruption to our familiar lives! Go with how you feel and what is right for you, and trust that these changes are leading you to a better future. This eclipse will impact the next 2 years.
